We collected 40 random questions that we received during our recent webinar. Unfortunately we didn’t had the time to answer all of them during the live stream so we thought we will answer all of them later and place it on our blog. Hope everyone will find the answer to his own question!

Scene Manager

Can you use the same camera for different scenes and have different parameters between then with the properties fetch?
Yes, of course. You can change any of the properties in Scene Manager between two scenes or states, and the changes will be applied when activated.

Which is the shortcut to minimize a module to save some space?
You just need to double click on the header part of the module to minimize or restore it.

Is there a way to manage multiple V-Ray Domes within the same set?
Currently, Scene Manager only supports one active Sun and one active Dome light. We understand there are scenarios where you might want to control multiple lights, and we plan to accommodate this in future versions.

Do you support V-Ray 7? I would really like to upgrade and keep using Scene Manager!
V-Ray 7 will be available in a few days, we will send out a notification to all Scene Manager users.

Can you implement an undo command in Scene Manager?
Certainly! An undo/redo feature is planned, and it will significantly improve the user experience. However, we can’t include this in Scene Manager 2. It’s scheduled for the next major update in 2025.

Can you guys bring back the duplicate setup in Scene Manager so when we duplicate multiples files it goes all the way down to the scene setups and not mixed and duplicated under
We were asked by many of our users to change the duplicate feature so the clone would be added directly below and not to the bottom of the list. I guess we should make this optional or create two types of duplication.

Can Scene Manager save images with different extension? Like one .jpg, and one .png?
Currently, this is only possible when using V-Ray, as it offers more output options (Common, Channels, and Raw). Until we implement a better solution, I’d recommend saving .exr or .cxr files and then using automation to save the required formats.

Is there a discord channel for the render and scene manager users too? like for Project Dream? Would love to connect with our magnificent community.
Not yet, but we’re planning to expand the current Project Dream channel into a comprehensive Pulze channel. This will allow you to discuss Scene Manager, Render Manager, and RenderFlow all in one place. Once this happens we will definitely let you know!

RenderFlow

Do we need to renew the subscription of our existing render manager when RenderFlow comes out?
No! RenderFlow will be compatible with your existing Render Manager licenses, and your current subscription will remain unchanged. However, if you wish to acquire additional licenses, you’ll need to purchase new RenderFlow licenses.

Beyond the sneak peek of additional software use cases in RenderFlow, are you planning to expand the options further? For instance, would you consider adding support for Keyshot?
Yes, definitely! Keyshot and many other 3D, post-production, real-time, and editing software are on our list.

An API for RenderFlow would be awesome in the future!
Absolutely! It may come a bit later though. You’ll be able to access some parts of RenderFlow with Python, and there will also be a REST API available. With these, you’ll be able to create your own submitter, generate reports, and build your own monitoring or notification system.

Is it possible to see some sort of screen grab of the current or last frame rendered?
Not in the current beta version (0.5.16 - 2024.11.14), but we are working on adding the live frame buffer preview feature that we had in Render Manager.

Is it possible to change multiples jobs priorities at once?
Yes, you can do that. Select the jobs you want to modify, right-click, and choose the “Quick Edit” option. This allows you to change various parameters, including the priority.

Can we submit somewhere ideas/features we would like to have on RenderFlow?
Currently the best way is to send us an email to support@pulze.io. We review and discuss all incoming ideas and prioritize them according to roadmap. We will soon launch a dedicated webpage where we’ll share our product roadmaps. Users will be able to upvote existing features and request new ones.

With the new RenderFlow can we submit tyFlow or Phoenix simulations as a job?
Yes, you’ll be able to do both! The early beta phase will focus on rendering with 3ds Max, but we’ll soon add Phoenix and tyFlow options.

What DCC-s are you planning to support with RenderFlow? I would love to see Cinema 4D!
The ultimate goal is to support all major DCCs, post-production, and real-time software. Here are some of the platforms we are currently planning: Blender, Maya, Cinema 4D, V-Ray Standalone, Unreal, Fusion, Nuke, After Effects, Keyshot, Topaz, and more.

When can I start using RenderFlow?
RenderFlow is currently in a beta phase (as of 2024.11.14). If you’d like to try it, please sign up here and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible. We’re inviting more and more users week by week.

Will RenderFlow preserve the different file extensions set for render elements in 3ds Max?
Yes, this shouldn’t be a problem. If you encounter any issues with this, please don’t hesitate to reach out to support@pulze.io!

Will RenderFlow be able to reconnect and continue the job if the computer restarts (or crashes) for whatever reason?
If 3dsmax.exe or any other process crashes that is started by RenderFlow crashes during a job, it will be restarted and the computer will be forced to retry the task again up to 3 times. In case a computer disconnects and RenderFlow becomes offline, the current task it was working on will reset and if possible another computer will take over. Once the offline computer joins back it will receive the next available task.

Can I use RenderFlow exclusively on my local workstation?
Yes, it’s possible! You just need to enable “Node mode,” which allows your computer to receive jobs and work on them.

Is it possible to submit jobs from remote networks, or is it limited to local networks?
Yes, you can submit jobs from a remote location, but you’ll need to use a VPN connection—this isn’t possible out of the box. Additionally, ensure that the scene files and assets are available on both networks.

I would like to be able to monitor and control my jobs via a web interface, when I am away from the office.
We are planning to offer a mobile app that will allow you track the progress of your jobs.

Rendered animation frames can be selected by the node that was working on it. Is it still one of the features within RenderFlow?
Selecting completed frames by the node that worked on them or other types of “smart selection” will be available later on.

What is the method that RenderFlow uses to render still images? Tiled or Distribution Rendering?
In the current beta version, Tiled and Distributed Rendering are not yet available. We’re currently working on V-Ray Distributed rendering, and we’ll implement other methods based on user needs.

Is RenderFlow a replacement for Render Manager or an update? Will it be included in my current Render Manager subscription?
RenderFlow is an entirely new software that will replace Render Manager. You’ll be able to use it with your existing Render Manager licenses.

Is it possible to change a job’s priority later in RenderFlow? And what happens if two jobs have the same priority number?
Yes, you can adjust the priority or other settings for one or more jobs. Simply select the job(s), right-click, and use the Quick Edit section. If multiple jobs have the same priority, RenderFlow will prioritize the one created earlier.

Is it possible to set your own RenderFlow defaults (for cleanup settings, interruption, priority, start time, etc.)?
Not yet, but we are already working on custom job templates that you can customize with your own defaults. The plan is that you’ll be able to save and reuse these templates.

Would it be possible to have a cloud rendering inside RenderFlow? What I would like to say is having both remote and local machines at the same pool so sending a job can both local and remote machines pick up renders?
Yes, we are planning something similar. In Q1 2025, we’ll start offering cloud jobs through our partners. You’ll be able to submit your render jobs from RenderFlow or start locally and continue on the cloud. While having render nodes from a cloud service and your own computers working on the same job isn’t possible, you should be able to split an animation into multiple jobs and use your own machines to render specific parts.

Project Dream

Which 3D software are compatible with Project Dream? I’m using SketchUp and I would like to be able to use my viewport in Project Dream without manually screen grabbing it.
Project Dream currently offers integrations with 3ds Max, Maya, Cinema 4D, Blender, Revit, Rhino, and SketchUp. From Project Dream, you can select the currently running SketchUp instance, and your viewport will be automatically captured. We also have toolbar buttons for most of the integrations, allowing you to open Dream and trigger the viewport grab directly from your 3D application.

Is it possible to load 3d render black and white mask into Project Dream mask for masking a part of image ?
Currently not, but it is on our feature list for sure!

Are you planning a browser version for Dream? That would be very useful!
Yes, it is coming in 2025 Q1

How do generation credits work on Project Dream? is it one credit used for each variation?
Different generation types cost various amounts of credits. See the current credit table here.

As your renew and enhance everything you touch, could you next rewrite 3dsmax ? please :)
Would be awesome, but its a massive software, and would take an immense amount time, manpower and dedication to create a DCC with similar features. We have huge respects for the 3dsmax developers!

Can you add project dream as a step in render flow?
Could be a good idea, we’ll see:)

What about animations?
We have just released a new feature that lets you animate images. We are slowly rolling out access to it, but everyone should have access to it starting December. Give it a spin!

Is there an indicator in how much time a newly generated image will take besides the wheel?
We are working on a progress bar system, but the exact time is quite tricky to guess. It has too many moving factors to determine precisely. Just like rendering…

Are you not you using AI as reference. Wouldn’t this perpetuate inaccuracies?
Yes, that is a possible drawback to it, but if you don’t overdo it, it wont overcook your results. Also, we’ve launched a form, where you can submit your images to be included in the reference library, and hopefully we can have some more awesome, and non-ai references. There are already some images in the provided by Brick Visual!

How do I check that my project dream is the most up to date version please?
Yeah, so that might be a bit confusing at first. Whenever your open Project Dream, you are getting the latest version loaded up. In some cases, these updates cannot be fetched in the background, that is when we are releasing new installers. When a new installer is out, don’t worry, you’ll be prompted to auto-update it.

Can we have viewport to image integrated with Photoshop please :)
Yes, a Photoshop plugin is also on our list. We don’t know when yet, there is so much to do!

How well does the mood generator work on interior scenes?
It works on interiors as well! However, we know that we currently are lacking some great reference images, but let’s hope we’ll be able to get or create more!

Thank you for everyone who participated and thank you for the great questions. If you haven’t seen the webinar yet, you can watch the entire 90-minute recording here:
